On November 4th, Princess Camilla of Bourbon Two Sicilies was among the volunteers of the “Guardian Angels of Monaco” to distribute, throughout the evening, meals and essentials products to 350 needy people in Nice. Already a member of the association, Princess Camilla regularly participates in these tours that the association organizes every week, in the summer and in winter.
For twelve years, the Guardian Angels of Monaco have been collecting, from eight restaurants in the Principality and from private donors, food and essential items for the homeless and people in need. It is a great chain of solidarity that has been united thanks to Mrs Bruna Maule, President of the association.
On Monday evening 150 kilos of bananas, fruit juices, sandwiches, tea and coffee were donated, as well as 55 sleeping bags donated by Mr. Stelios Haji-Ioannou. The donation took place at the port and train station in Nice.
“We must never forget that distress is on our doorstep. Year after year I see more and more women: old ladies with no income and often in bad conditions, young single moms with their babies in their arms, desperate teenage girls…”, says Princess Camilla. “I have always championed the cause of women, with my husband and my two daughters’ precious support. This misery that falls on people revolts me. Helping is not giving money and acting as if nothing had happened. Helping the others means engaging, meeting the others, offering them a hot meal, a clean duvet and a smile. The heart does priceless things. All these needy people need as much respect as a bowl of soup. We must reach out to those who need it. And that’s what the Guardian Angels do admirably”.
On November 15th, the Guardian Angels will give a charity gala to raise funds and thus continue their mission. The event will take place at 8 pm in Monte-Carlo, at the Salle Empire of the Hôtel de Paris. Many crowned heads, as well as artists and Victoria Silvstedt, are expected.
