Her Royal Highness Princess Maria Chiara of Bourbon Two Sicilies was born in Rome on January 1, 2005.
She is the youngest daughter of His Royal Highness Prince Carlo of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro and Head of the Royal House, and Her Royal Highness Princess Camilla of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duchess of Castro.
She lives between Paris, Monte Carlo, and Rome, leading a cosmopolitan life shaped by culture, heritage, and international influences.
Passionate about art and fashion, she is also deeply committed to environmental and social initiatives, placing her visibility at the service of causes aligned with her values.
EDUCATION
Her Royal Highness Princess Maria Chiara of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duchess of Noto and Capri, received a cosmopolitan education through private tutoring, following the Cambridge international curriculum and the CNED (Centre National d’Éducation à Distance), under the supervision of the Education Department of the Principality of Monaco. She completed her studies in March 2020, earning her diploma two years early.
She subsequently continued her studies at the Istituto Marangoni in Paris, where she specialized in fashion design, fashion business, and styling. She also enriched her academic path by taking online courses in social sciences at Harvard University.
Princess Maria Chiara speaks fluent English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian. She plays the piano and practices several sports, including tennis, sailing, dance, and judo.
CULTURAL AND CREATIVE ACTIVITIES
Since childhood, Princess Maria Chiara has regularly represented the Royal House of Bourbon Two Sicilies at official events, religious ceremonies, and charitable initiatives alongside her parents. Parallel to her institutional role, she has developed a strong interest in the arts, cinema, and fashion.
In 2022, she completed an internship at the international auction house Sotheby’s, where she developed a particular interest in fine jewelry and precious stones, while gaining knowledge of the operation and organization of international auctions.
She took acting classes in Monaco and appeared in the film Grace of Monaco alongside Nicole Kidman.
In 2024, she created the cover illustration for the French literary work “Et les vagues criaient Basheba,” written by Princess Anne of Bourbon Two Sicilies and published internationally.
She has also collaborated with several international fashion houses, including Dior, Roberto Cavalli, and Giorgio Armani, participating in their shows and events, and notably walked for Maison Pierre Cardin.
In 2025, she collaborated with her sister, Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon Two Sicilies, and the French brand Olympia Le-Tan on the creation of the capsule collection “Dolce Vita del Mezzogiorno,” a project inspired by the craftsmanship and cultural heritage of Southern Italy, aimed at promoting the traditions and savoir-faire of the Mezzogiorno.
HUMANITARIAN AND ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT
Through her involvement in the Sacred and Military Constantinian Order of Saint George, Princess Maria Chiara supports humanitarian projects around the world.
She gained initial practical experience through internships at the Monaco Red Cross in 2017, where she received first aid training, and at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco in 2019, deepening her interest in ocean protection and environmental awareness.
In 2022, she collaborated with the Italian Red Cross to coordinate the shipment of over thirty tons of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, including medical supplies and essential goods.
Deeply committed to animal and environmental protection, she is actively involved with the World Wide Fund for Nature. In June 2023, she was officially appointed Ambassador for WWF Italy and France, contributing to public awareness and promoting concrete actions for conservation.
Princess Maria Chiara supports numerous initiatives, including Ocean 1 and UNICEF. She has been an ambassador for Passion Sea, an initiative dedicated to ocean protection, as well as for the Salvamamme association, which she continues to support on behalf of women and young girls in vulnerable situations.
She regularly participates in the “No Finish Line” charity event in Monaco, under the high patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, a solidarity race in which every kilometer run is converted into donations for disadvantaged children.
She also supports the environmental initiatives of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, committed to environmental protection and the fight against climate change.
Her philanthropic commitment also extends to local organizations such as Les Anges Gardiens de Monaco and Action Innocence Monaco.
Committed to fighting violence against women, she participated in the “March in March” marches in New York in 2016 and 2018.
Her humanitarian commitment was recognized in 2018 with the Queen Maria Cristina Benedetta Award.
HONORS AND DISTINCTIONS
Princess Maria Chiara is a Dame Grand Cross of Justice of the Sacred and Military Constantinian Order of Saint George and a Dame of the Royal Order of Saint Januarius.
In recognition of her humanitarian commitment, she received the Gold Medal of the Italian Red Cross in 2018, as well as the Medal of Recognition from the Monaco Red Cross in the same year.
Additionally, a rose cultivated at the Agricultural Technical Institute of Caronia, in Sicily, bears her name, symbolizing her connection to the cultural and natural heritage of Southern Italy.
Today, Princess Maria Chiara continues to embody the values of tradition, creativity, and commitment, balancing her roles as cultural ambassador, humanitarian figure, and artist, while developing her projects in the fields of fashion, art, and contemporary creation.
